High Wycombe has a rich history and geographical significance being located half way between London and Oxford. Named after the river Wye that runs through the middle of it, the town became famous for the manufacture of furniture in the late 19th century.
Excellent transport links mean that High Wycombe remains an attractive place to conduct business. The M40 motorway gives superb access to London and links to the north via Birmingham. The train station is located on the Chiltern line which runs directly into London Marylebone station. Access to the capital city on the fastest train is 22 minutes with most less than 35.
The local retail industry was boosted in 2008 with the development of the Eden Centre. Whilst hosting many national retailers within its 107 shops, it also boasts a gym, a 12 screen cinema and a 22 lane bowling alley which helps attract over 350,000 visitors per week.
Exciting up and coming local projects include the leisure centre and business hub redevelopment at Handy Cross, which will hopefully deliver 1,300 new jobs to the district.
